Good looking bunch! I like the way there’s a ( ) parenthetic force around each of them that seems to be drawing out the substance of their characters. I’m wondering, are these from sittings, general memories, photographs, their poetry, other knowledge of them?

Hi Ralph. These are all done from sittings, usually in my studio, sometimes in the subject's home. In a few cases, the picture made during the sitting is a pencil sketch from which I make the painting.
