Toni Treadway delighted in the discovery of lively formalist poets in the region north of Boston where Rhina Espaillat invited her to sit in on the Powow River Poets workshop in Newburyport almost two decades ago. Her first book was published by Kelsay Books in 2018 and its title poem, “Late Harvest,” was a runner up for the 2019 Robert Frost Prize. Five of her poems appear in the Powow River Poets Anthology II (Able Muse Press, 2020). She helps organize the Powows’ public readings and is known for her work with Robert Brodsky—restoring old movies for Public TV documentaries and film archives.
