I'm starting an on-line journal which will be out in August. It is called Lucid Rhythms and will publish both metrical and free verse poems. Submission period is 1 June to July 15 and I'm hoping to get the first issue out by August 1. It would be great to see some poems by Spherians.
Submission guidelines are available at
http://www.lucidrhythms.com/LucidRhythms.html
Best,
David

Best of luck with this, David. I love the title, and the art work on the page you have up. I look forward to reading the first issue.

Thanks, Marybeth. On my way home from West Chester, I was listening to the Poetry Out Loud tape that Dana Gioia gave as a freebee to anyone who wanted it. M. Scott Momaday recites "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird" and says "I have known noble accents / and lucid inescapable rhymes." When I heard that, about halfway home, I said, "Good God, have I been misreading that line all my life, and is the title of my journal based on an error?" Then I checked the text and found that the mistake was Momaday's, not my own. It is "lucid inescapable rhythms."
Whew!

August? That's not too far away. I'd better start kissing up to you now!

Seriously, though, your submission guidelines sound good, and I look forward to reading your first issue.

Even shorter than that. I plan to close submissions on July 15.

This looks fantastic, David! And I'm a great lover of Alma-Tadema and other Victorian visual versions of the classical world, which is a bonus. Well done: may the Muses smile on this promising venture!
