The Best Troll Cookbook
Stone Soup, Dust Dessert, reusable soup toads.........
If you have a yen for really disgusting mishmash, the Troll Cookbook is for you. I wrote it with grandson Nikolas when he was six - he is now 12 - we realize that the market for troll cookbooks is rather limited. We did have a lot of fun writing the recipes and drawing the trolls.
Troll #1
A well appointed Troll kitchen should include:
A strong hammer or two
A good supply of old and smelly shoes
An open window for flies to get in
A dirty floor to attract mice and rats and bugs
Troll #2
Breaking up the stones for Stone soufflé
Troll #3
Dust dessert
2 cups dust
5 pounds sugar
2 cups petroleum
Mix and let stand a month or two until hardened.
Troll #4
Stone Soufflé
18 medium sized stones, smashed
18 rotten eggs
8 pounds of sugar
1/2 cup black pepper
2 cups turpentine
1/2 cup of clay
Whip the smashed stones with the eggs until frothy.
Carefully fold in everything.
Bake in a hot oven until black and crisp.
I do apologize for the complete silliness of this. It was a lot of fun to do.

Birthe,
I'm going to have my 8 year old read these and then try to write and illustrate some of her own. I think children (and adults) would love to own a book these recipes and pictures, I know I would!

Hi Birthe,
It's delightful to see your work again! It's been a long time. Is this book available anywhere?

Sharon, Eileen, Ann,
Thank you. It is wonderful to get such positive reactions to Nikolas's and my 'book'. It exists only in my sketchbook and on my computer and in computer printouts for the grandchildren.
Sharing one's creative efforts is like making a good meal and enjoying the enjoyment you give to those who like what you made.
I did not post the worm ice cream!!!!

Much enjoyed, Birthe.
You should try and get it printed up somewhere.

Sharon, Nemo,
Thank you so much for the nice encouragement - it is very happy making to give enjoyment.
I would love to see the cookbook as a book. I haven't tried to send it anywhere because query letters are nightmares to write. Reading the guidelines is daunting, everything has to be JUST SO. But maybe I will take courage and try with this book.
It is great fun to make people laugh - or even just chuckle.
