Deadlines & Other Important Reminders
OK, at least, they should be important ... OK, maybe important to me and quite a few others ...
- ABLE MUSE WRITE PRIZE (Poetry & Fiction) - $500 prize each & publication
Judges: Rachel Hadas - poetry; Alan Cheuse - fiction
Deadline: February 15, 2011
- ABLE MUSE BOOK AWARD (Poetry) - $1000 prize, plus book publication
Judge: Andrew Hudgins
Deadline: March 31, 2011
~~~~~~~~
Now available: Acclaimed new releases from Able Muse Press:
(the inaugural print edition has only received rave reviews -- one after another. If you don't have your own personal copy yet, what are you waiting for!? )
~~~~~~~~
Finally, an update on the Able Muse contest:
All the major phases now will be judged anonymously, notably, the selection of material to be shortlisted for blind judging by the final judges. The Able Muse editors will perform the shortlisting from submitted material I'll anonymize for their selection. So, you can submit with the expectation that the judging process will be as fair as possible.
All applicable links are at the Able Muse homepage - www.ablemuse.com
Cheers,
...Alex

Alex,
My muddled brain is confused by this:

Does that mean I can pay one single $15 fee and submit five separate one-poem entries? Or does it mean $15 dollars for each one-poem entry, but no more than five entries? Or does it mean something entirely different?

Hi David,
Hmmm ... I can see how that could be confusing. Does anyone has a better, clearer way to compress the following clarification:
For EACH $15 entry in the poetry category, include at least 1 poem, at most 5 poems, and no matter how many poems are included, the entry should not exceed 10 pages.
... and yes, I know, 'at least 1' is redundant, but was included to make sure the instruction was crystal clear ... which apparently it still wasn't! But is the above any clearer?
Cheers,
...Alex

Thanks Alex. You were probably clear enough to begin with but I am thick. No I think I get: I can enter five times under one entry fee, right?

Thanks for asking that David, I was confused by it too: clear now, $15 per entry, up to 5 poems allowed per entry; no entry must exceed ten pages in total.

That's it, Steve! And, David, yes, you can include up to 5 poems in one entry ... as Steve has succinctly clarified it. And, I've just edited the instructions in the entry page to make things as clear as possible.
Cheers,

Only 5 days to go ... for those thinking of entering the Write Prize (for poetry or fiction).

Hello, I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone knows how they are sure that I entered my payment for the Write Prize, because I wasn’t sure of anywhere on the form to put a receipt number or anything of that sort. Will they know just by your matching names on your payment through Google and on the document I sent in online? I would hate to be not counted in the first real contest I’ve ever entered on technicality, but this has been bugging me for a week. Thanks to anyone who has the time to silence my inner worrier!
Also, does anyone know when I get the pleasure of the news that I’ve lost? At least then I won’t wonder if my failed entry is drifting off into cyber space somewhere…
thanks…whoever!

One for Alex, Rachelanne. He's the boss, and manages all matters technical.
