Default New Book and Online Selection

A selection of twelve poems—five drawn from my first and third books, Jigsaw (2003) and Already the Flames (2014: a Times Literary Supplement Book of the Year), and seven from my latest collection, Pedic’s Dream (2021)—appears at the link below, together with some introductory and other biographical material. The poems are in a PDF, which can therefore be downloaded if you are interested.

Magnificent. "Twin" is precisely a sort of poem which I imagine the second Mrs. de Winter reading aloud to Maxim, after they have left for good the halls of Manderley. Unassailable. Thank you, sir.

Hi Clive,

I’m bumping this up. Belated thanks for this gorgeous selection of delicate, thoughtful and accomplished poetry. It’s an absolute gift. And for the fascinating biographical information! You taught Alexei Sayle!!?

Cheers

Mark

Thank you Mark for bumping this -

I think my favourite so far is 'Children's Story', which has such wonderful wondering descriptions and the most beautiful ending. I love the fear around cabbages and beans, and the yawning, sleeping monster.

It's always, always, always amazing to read good poetry for free (I know that makes me sound like a cheapskate, but it is). Thank you.

Sarah-Jane
