I'm confused about the official release business. The book was on sale at West Chester in June -- in fact, I bought a copy (and look forward to digging into it this winter). Were the copies on sale in June somehow unofficial? And if it was already available in June, why was it not official until Sept 30? Not that it really matters, but I'm just curious how this works.

Nausheen, Alex is your best source of explanation about this, and he may step in to correct me if what follows isn't accurate. But if I remember correctly what he told me in e-mails, a pre-release period of about three months is required by organizations such as Publishers Weekly. I think it also helps with generating pre-orders, which make life easier for the publisher. So yes, the West Chester copies and sales were "pre-release."
