Loss of senses
A teacher has asked me to find a poem about someone suddenly losing one of the five senses. Any suggestions? Not gradual onset like Milton's blindness.

The only one I can think of is this - Hannah Lowe, 'The Stroke'

It's a poem that sticks with me, but I'm not sure it's exactly what you're after, as it's more about loss generally.

With the Covid pandemic it would surprise me if no-one has tried their hand at a poem about loss of taste or smell. But I don't know of one and haven't tried googling.

Thanks Ann. I think I may have heard this with music somewhere. I know he sings some of his stuff with a band called LYR. Anyway, here is a link to the Song Thrush and the Mountain Ash
Oh and I really like the Hannah Lowe poem Sarah-Jane

Not to be cantankerous (ha, I'm always cantankerous) but I'd advise against going for a loss of vision poem. I'm just sick of reading sighted people trying to imagine it and turning it into a pity-fest-come-hyper-extended-metaphor cliché soup.
Strokes, on the other hand, seem ripe for it.
