For Jerry -
My name is Michael Cantor, and I say,
"the milk of human kindness," is an out-of-date cliché.

What caused my archaic lumbago
was swiveling to see a virago
with two or three heads
that were hawking her meds
for arthritis in Tierra del Fuego.

How pleasant to know Mr. Cantor
Who has written such volumes of stuff.
There's gold in his poetic banter,
Though his comments can sometimes be gruff.
(I can't be bothered with the milk of human kindness....)
Regards, Maz

how about bodice, bouganvillea and bobbles?
or fat balls (of the bird-food variety!) and double glazing?
mnemonics and toe nails?

B-have
The buxom brunette escaped from the bedlam
Of bellowing bullocks to
Becalm her batty brain 'midst the
Bumbling of bees bribing the blossoms
Of bougainvillea in the botanic gardens,
Brushing aside a bordering of bamboos
Before enjoying the brisk benefits of
Bright beaujolais,
Making blushes bloom upon her cheeks
And the bobbles on her bodice bounce!

I used mnemonics to remember my scales
doe ray me fa lo, but I still forgot,
so I painted the lot on my toenails.
When Admiral Louis de Bouganvillea
discovered those flowering vines;
with tubular white little flowers like bobbles,
supported by evergreen spines,
blessed by Mnemosene, he sang me fa lo,
much later, I smiled through my double glazed window,
watching the birds peck the fat balls that hung
on my bouganvillea, it was they then who sung.
Jan: damn, forgot bodice. Oh well, I tried.

'Jan: damn, forgot bodice. Oh well I tried.'
a poor excuse, Alex; you lamely lied.
so fetch me your do-re-me so-la-tee toes
and I'll fix it so they sing scales right up your nose.

Up my nose? This post is a savage attack,
so I'm compelled right here to strike right back:
enough of my precious poets time was lost
without considering Bodices, at heavy cost
I undertook your task, though ridiculous
the effort I made to craft meticulous
verse from the debris of your cluttered mind,
lubricating syllables with butter to find
a way through the tight squeeze of your request -
it wasn't no breeze finding which words were best
to fit around themes that were really quite random
accomodate your words, and make meaning, in tandem
these two tasks were like wading through lime
so please waste no more of my precious poets time

hey Alex, nice one! you did well
incorporating 'show and tell;
time's never wasted,
just invested,
paves the roads to poets' Hell.
Now don't you suck my muse's blood;
vampyrrhic artists (that was crud!)
all prowl the streets of Life's domain,
driven, needing, day-to-day
vicarious input from their prey.
(loved this bit especially!
"the debris of your cluttered mind,
lubricating syllables with butter")
