Default New Light Verse Collection, Catalogs for Food Lovers, J.D. Smith

I have the privilege of following Chris O'Carroll as a poet published by Kelsay Books. My collection Catalogs for Food Lovers is now available at this link.

Individual poems in the collection have appeared in publications including Light, LUPO, Parody, and Edge City Review.

Many thanks to Melissa Balmain, A.M. Juster and Gail White for going out on a limb and blurbing this slender volume.

Great news, John. Congratulations. I love it that our books were coming down the production homestretch more or less simultaneously, and that Gail White has good things to say about both of them.

May we both hit the bestseller lists. You know, like poets usually do.

Thank you very much. We both come well recommended, I see.

If we pool royalties we can get the villa with the Caravaggio mural.

Hi John,
I've just taken out a mortgage for the shipping costs (almost the same as the cost of the book) but, as I said to Chris, I've spent nothing on things like holidays, meals out, etc, during the pandemic so I have loads of spare money for real luxuries, like my friends' books!!

I look forward to reading them. Congratulations to you both.

Jayne

Thank you, Jayne. To paraphrase my fellow Aurora, Illinois natives Wayne and Garth, I'm not worthy. But my book might have something to offer. Thanks again.

Congrats again to you (and Chris)! May Jayne be the first of many to splurge...

My collection now appears to be available on Amazon UK and presumably Amazon elsewhere, and I imagine the same is true for Chris O'Carroll's collection.

What a great (and under-used) word is "splurge"! It's not something I do very often, but on this occasion I was very happy to do so.
Yes, please follow suit, everyone...

Jayne

In the first installment of a multi-part interview I try to explain how the book was organized.

The first review of the collection (and collections by Midge Goldberg, Chris O'Carroll, Edmund Conti and Gabe Henry, editor) is available at this link. Thanks to Barbara Egel and Light Magazine!
