Default Russian warship, go fuck yourself

In my life, I've never seen so much bravery. I'm completely stunned.

And don't forget that those humans are probably dead. Their families will mourn them. As will families from (equally human) Russian casualties of war. There is nothing to celebrate here.

They are dead. And they will be celebrated forever, I suspect, as they should be.

Background to above song. No doubt it will be played a great deal these days.

Bandura goes back several centuries, it seems, and used to carry 15 strings, some now have up to 65. FWIW

Putin, blood-soaked thief that he is, claimed Ukraine is not a country and was invented by Russia. So the US embassy tweeted photos of four 10th-12th century Kiev churches and of the forest that was Moscow at the time.

Thanks for that Seree (though I couldn't get the second link to work). On the theme of Ukranian folk song, back in 2014 at the UK WOMAD festival we were all blown away by DakhaBrakha. The festival tends to be dominated by African based sounds (which is fine by me) but this group of women in what looked like white wedding dresses wearing tall black hats took to the stage and gave out a captivating other-wordly sound that cut through everything. They have since made quite a reputation in the West. I hope they are OK.

Thanks, Matt. I hope that's accurate. And thanks Seree for the links. Absolutely gorgeous.

And I'll probably react more viscerally to such reports of defiance as Taipei has been my home for going on twenty years now. We're really feeling it.
