One more thought. . .
One of the most intriguing monsters in my opinion is Kurtz in Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.He is terrifying because we never really see him doing what makes him monstrous. An interesting juxtaposition might be to read this novel against Timothy Findlay’s Headhunter and the film, Apocalypse Now.
