George always (thoughtfully) adds this at the foot of each poem:
If you have any thoughts on this poem, [David Callin, or whoever] would be pleased to hear them.
In all the years I have been popping up in Snakeskin, this has only ever happened to me three times: once in response to a poem about a tumulus, once in response to my poem in praise, or at least defence, of Nahum Tate (previously shared here, according to my admittedly patchy records), and again just now, in response to this one.
Which was nice.

I liked your poem lots, David, but yeah, I failed to click on that e-mail link all the same.

Yes I agree that that is a nice feature of Snakeskin. And I have commented once or twice on poems that I have particularly liked. The authors have always responded which is also a nice thing. I keep intending to do it more often but....

Duncan, it's a funny thing, but I have rarely done it myself either. It somehow seems either too much of an effort, or a bit like stalking. And yet here's Joe setting us all a good example. Well done Joe!
To be fair - and having thought of one more poem to which I received a response (making three in total, before the latest one) - two of those have become friends - through the questionable medium of Facebook, at least. Which also provides moral support for your approach, Joe. I should do it more often myself.

I ended up at Eratosphere because I clicked on A.E. Stalling's email link in a bio somewhere, to tell "him" how much I liked "his" sonnet. And she told me she was a moderator here, and I should check it out.

Thanks for spreading the word about the issue, David.
It's interesting to hear of people's experiences with the feedback links. From what I can gather, some poems get plenty of appreciative comments (and a few less appreciative). In twenty-five years I think only one poet has ever complained to me about nobody being in touch. I suggested to her that she started expressing appreciation of others' work. She did so, and soon had a lively correspondence with other Snakeskin poets.
I like to keep the links there; it's one of the advantages that internet publication has over print.

It is a good idea, George, and one that has paid dividends to me. Not as many as it should have, really, but that's due to my own laxness. (But it's also quite rare to read a poem that makes you say "Wow, who wrote that?")
