Quote from Baz:I am presently gobsmacked by the fact that, given they have 150 words to strut their stuff, so many people are being parsimonious, anal even. What's wrong with a touch of imaginative comic embroidery?
I agree - the trend for brevity just caught on, perhaps, because we'd come such a long way from the rubric. Some very funny ones here, all the same!

Brevity is the soul of wit, I thought. At any rate, it doesn't take as long.
I confess that I don't get "chavacteristic," by the way. Would someone please indulge me and explain the root/pun.

I'm afraid that quoting clichés doesn't help. 150 words will allow you to stake out
your own terrain & build a narrative on it. Don't you want to be creative? All words have a history & context. Use 'em – or in this case invent 'em.
As for 'chav', I refer you to: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/chav

Us edukated peepul use 'chav' a lot, to diskribe them as what can't talk proper nor nuffin, in other words, foke who are thick and dead ruff.
(It's not that we have a superiority complex, or anything - we are superior!)
Tee-hee.
(Just joking; don't take it personally, anyone.)

I'm rather with the idea of inventively ramping up the comical definition;
Prairie
Aprairie n. Hive in the west where cowboys keep bees.
Praisie n. A useless critic who likes any old rubbish, e.g. Labour hanger-on who lauds Gordon Brown’s parliamentary utterances as masterpieces of wit and brevity. See Toady, Sycophant.
Rairie n. Form of leprechaun once commonly seen but scarce now that whiskey is highly taxed. A lot of old cobblers, they are reputed to bestow great fortune on those who are generous to them.
It is known that some people go a long way to tip a rairie.

Olympics
a) Olymphics: A syndrome characterized by swollen, overactive lymph nodes.
"After examining me, the doctor said I had a mild case of olymphics."
b) O'Lymrics: A deragatory term for poets (Irish slang).
"Those O'Lymrics spend all their time writing while we do all the work."
c) Oympics: Photos and other digital media that would offend one's Jewish grandmother.
"She accidentally emailed some oympics to her boss and was fired that day."

Thanks, Diana, but you might have just edged me out of the money (if I was in it before). Curse you!

Oh, I seriously doubt that, Bob! But I happily accept your curse.
"Beavity" -- Hee hee!
What a fun challenge.
