I never met Tim, but we spoke on the phone. He took me seriously as a children's poet long before I did, which helped steer the course of my writing for the rest of my life. He was very generous with his encouragement, and he did what he could to help.

Your memoir is beautiful, Maryann. At some point I will write my own memories of Tim, and the honor he bestowed on me by asking me to edit his final poems. It is still too soon, my heart still aches.
