Childish perhaps, but I found it amusing enough to share.

(Alex and Mayann, please don't ban me -- at least I had the sense to put a "noindex" tag up there.)

Before you know it his friend, enlarged penis, will join. But will there be room enough for both of them?

Wish I had seen that before I wrote "Post deleted by member."

I'm glad folks are laughing and not cringing. I'm going to grab the opportunity to share a little information and then y'all can go back to laughing.

It looks like the spambots--and the actual human spammers--which had been kept out by the software pretty well for a long time, have learned some new tricks and can successfully fill out the application form. That gets them at least as far as showing up as the "latest membership request." You may have also noticed "Cheap gold" yesterday.

When I see those, I delete them as soon as I see them. I've finally figured out which kind of delete zaps them immediately. I don't know whether there's an upgrade that will keep the varmints out more effectively, but until there is they'll have to be wallopped manually every time. Sigh.

I noticed that he (or she or it!) was actually logged in at one point. Does this mean that p.e.p. got past the "latest membership request" stage you're describing, Maryann?

Are all of their poems massive cock-ups?

That one may have been human, Andrew. But people who have just registered and haven't been approved yet--haven't even sent in their e-mail confirmations--do show up on the list of members currently logged on. I think it's because they're in "logged on" status while they're still in the process of activating the registration.

Maryann,

I am sure this is a headache for you, and I am sure I speak for many when I thank you for the hard work you and Alex do to keep the site spam-free. I am sorry for the thread, I hope you don't take it as some sort of knock.

David R.
