Default Landscapes

I'm noticing that there is steady traffic at the art section here. Perhaps I will post my Landscape page, which includes a lot of recent work. Thanks for taking a look.

Beautiful work, Rick. I like the spontaneous feel that I know wouldn't be possible without decades of experience.

These are gorgeous, I think. They do that most exciting of things, combine a kind of stillness we associate with the idea of landscape, but animate through the brushstrokes and medium. I like how this is not subtle but how it veers towards representation whilst it lets me think about abstraction.

I like very much the specificity of each landscape, too. This makes each canvas feel like a place, a moment, makes me feel as if I am there, looking in, listening to that specific world.

As a small, tiny thing, I love when your signature becomes involved with the landscape too, dialoguing with it, playing with the idea of art/capture/artist/landscape. Though I might be reading too much into that!

Sarah

Hi Sarah-Jane,

This is very nice to hear, given what I think about when I think about landscape painting. Interesting point about signing the painting--it's a color element, but also a compositional element. I've been getting out a lot this summer and your response is very encouraging.
