Default Saying Goodbye to Ann Drysdale

My husband Pete and I have just got back from South Wales, after attending Annie’s funeral. It went well (as far as these events are able to), with a lovely service. Her best friend, Angela France, read one of Annie’s poems, and another poem by her daughter Nancy was read by the celebrant.

It was especially nice to meet the family: Annie’s sister and brother-in-law, her three children, nephews and grand-children. Annie was also a great-grandmother. She was a very private person, and today everyone seemed to learn new things about her life.

We also met some of Annie’s friends, and poetry was the common denominator, unsurprisingly. Neighbours attended too, and, just as she was here at Eratosphere, Annie was loved and admired by all who knew her. She was very clever, kind, forthright and had a great sense of humour – or perhaps I should say a “wicked” one! (Annie would tell me off for using emojis )

In addition to this thread, here is a link to the one where tributes from Eratosphereans can be read, when we first became aware of the sad news.

Our dear friend will be much missed.

Jayne

Wonderful that you could be there, Jayne. For years, I was grateful for Annie's poetry and her friendship. And the poems are still with us. Thanks for letting us know about this gathering to celebrate her life.

Thanks so much, Jayne. I would have gone if I could. I own most of her books and enjoy them a lot, and her participation on Eratosphere was lively and priceless. We are all poorer to have lost her.

Susan
