I was browsing DeviantArt and I came upon this artist from Norway. I like his work very much. It has a very nice combination of realism mixed with lighthearted abstraction. I enjoy how the different styles live side by side.

Sharon, thanks for posting.

The artist lists himself as being from Finland. Tikkurila is the name of a Finnish town/city, though I think I recognize the one with building at the end of the narrow street as being from Helsinki very close to an art gallery.

What is it that draws you to this artist's work?

Oops, sorry for getting the country wrong. I like the cheerful spontaneous look of his painting with the moments of realism, "spot realism" I'll call it, like in "Dominic", "Pass By" and "Joy". These works are just so happy and fresh. The works that are photo-manipulations are twisted and tweaked just enough to make life have a carnival feeling, like "The Night Tourist in a Twisted Town".

Sharon —

Thanks from me too.

Yes. His gallery is well worth a look.

A lot of the pictures pass my I've been there test — somehow finding the scene/people/dogs familiar & affecting when I have never been to Finland or Latvia or the Abstract Woods.
