By the way -- there is another phenomenon arising in fashion, which I failed to note in my previous posts. That is, more and more journals are reading submissions year round from BIPOC writers, outside the rule window for white writers.
The Massachusetts Review, for example, which says on its website:
"N.B. Submissions from authors who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color will be accepted year-round; however, outside our regular reading period, when the online submission manager is shut down, all submissions from BIPOC writers should be sent by regular mail or emailed to
massrev@external.umass.edu."
