Well said, Jerome, and bang on cue. The world has warmed to her, bless her.

Jerome, I am so oblivious to the whole world of sports that I thought you meant Jane Austen's novel. But it is a good short poem, and it gave me enough information to figure out whom you meant.

Susan

Thanks, Susan. Some of the Austen names seem to go on and on. Shortly after installing the Longbourn Lydia and her lament by Elizaneth Horrocls in the current LUPO (55) I had a momentary shock on receiving a submission from . . . Liz Bennett. From Darwn Australia not Hampshire as it turned out.

Congrats, Jerome.

I watched some of the US Open (just by chance while in the mood to watch a bit of TV that evening), but don't follow tennis, so wasn't familiar with the names. I saw the match between Emma and Leylah Fernandez. It was exciting. I didn’t watch the Wimbledon Championships. I am a lot more familiar with the top names in table tennis, however, as it’s a sport I used to play at a pretty high level.

Congrats, Jerome! You've really been acing those tennis poems... (And what a great Open final that was!)
