Unusual poem by Ogden Nash

I came across a reference to this in an article about Starr Faithful, a celebrated cold-case from the 1930s.

What an interesting poem! So rhythmic and shivery -- I like it.

I'm also intrigued by the shifting tenses; Nash moves back and forth between past and present tense several times over the course of the poem. It contributes to the dreamy/nightmare atmosphere, I think.

That's a terrific (and terrifying?) ballad, Sam. I really like the twist at the end. Thanks for posting the link.
