Right. Me too. Now what should I do?

Julie Steiner 02-26-2021 08:17 AM

I've been repeatedly misreading Andrew F's "Parthenogenic" as "Parthenongenie" for a few days now.

Also, "Keats 200" --> "Keats ZOO." Nightingale, grasshopper, cricket, etc....

Julie Steiner 07-28-2021 04:32 AM

"Eat Old Women"

(Apparently, a cross between Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal For preventing the Children of Poor People From being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and For making them Beneficial to the Publick," and Susan McLean's workshop thread titled "Fat Old Women")

John Isbell 07-28-2021 05:10 AM

Cute! Julie, it reminds me a bit of the old saying, Eat the Rich. Evidently Motorhead and Aerosmith both have songs with that title now.
The Swift is brilliant.

Cheers,
John

You beat me to that one, Julie 🤣

Perhaps that's a good venue in which to place One must imagine Syphilus happy.

Ha. As if he didn't have troubles enough!:)

F.F. Teague 08-03-2021 02:33 PM

Yes; perfect, Julie. With accompanying cartoon! 🤣

Allen Tice 08-03-2021 08:52 PM

“Fat Old Roman”

Nero the Chubby dominating the mind of a reader of Susan McLean’s “Fat Old Women.”

“Pet Old Women”

More of the same, but this time affecting the owner of a vigorous golden retriever.

Julie Steiner 08-07-2021 09:15 AM

Rilke, The Parks, Ill

(No one captures vomit in a lovely outdoor setting quite like Rilke.)

Jim Moonan 08-08-2021 08:11 AM

.
These are a riot! I misread often. That Rilke's vomit might be poetic is almost too much to imagine!

And Fliss, no apologies needed. It's a title ripe for misreading : ) Interestingly enough, the poem does mention swords...

Julie, just to say, for someone who demands logic to be present when one is expressing thought using words, you have a wild imagination. I know that the two can co-exist, but like it or not, your imagination easily upstages your quest for clarity, I think. It's humor at its best. You're funny!
.

Susan McLean 08-08-2021 11:36 AM

Julie, that is hilarious.

Susan

Thanks, Jim! It was probably the swords that instructed my misreading, lol.
