It is perhaps worth noting that “we” in this instance does not include the Chicago Manual of Style, which is explicit.
Update: rereading Aaron's version, the scansion here appears to give both these proper names the extra syllable we are discussing. Which is nice. Adding the standard CMOS "s" post-apostrophe, as one might, would then cause no apparent scansion problems. Cheers, John |
