Article on free verse

I have a new article Free Verse and the Modernists at Associated Content. By all means, check it out and make grumbling comments about how these bastards ruined things for metrical poets. Though, when I think about it, a lot of Stevens is blank verse. I guess it's just how bizarre everything he wrote is that makes him fit in the Modernist camp.

A very concise discussion, thanks. A few suggestions. I think you meant 'although' instead of 'also' in the line 'That is to say, that also both poems. . .', and I think a 'the' before 'tersest' in the William Carlos Williams section might help.

Short but reasonably sweet. However, even leaving aside the repeated "take," I can't understand this sentence:
[I]The first poets to take take Whitman's idea of poetry without meter and add to it the idea that poetry should more closely reflect the language and rhythm of everyday speech.[/I]
Something is left dangling there...
