Thaisa Frank's  fiction, according to the New York Times, works "by a tantalizing sense of indirection."  Her stories, according to the critic Don
Skiles, "are in the grand tradition of the fairy tale, the legend, the spell." She is the recipient of two PEN Awards, and a two-time Bay Area Book Reviewer's Association nominee. Her two most recent books of fiction are Sleeping in Velvet (1997), and A brief History of Camouflage (1992). Finding Your Writer's Voice, published in l994, has been compared to Brenda Uleland's book If You Want to Write and has recently translated into Portuguese and Spanish.  Thaisa Frank teaches on the graduate faculty of the University of San Francisco and has been Visiting Associate Professor of
Creative Writing at the University of California at Berkeley.
